The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) is holding a three-day Focus Group Discussion (FGD) from 5–7 November 2025 to finalize the revision of the Ship Survey System (3S) Manual — a key step toward strengthening maritime safety and improving ship survey processes.

The ongoing review seeks to enhance and streamline existing guidelines and checklists, while also developing a new inspection policy to ensure clear safety criteria and close potential gaps in implementation. More importantly, the FGD aims to establish a uniform understanding among surveyors of the value and importance of each checklist item and every step in the process, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining seaworthiness and safe ship operations.
