The Maritime Industry Authority Regional Office VII (MARINA 7) has intensified its commitment to a drug-free workplace and safer seaport operations by partnering with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region VII (PDEA 7). The collaboration was formalized through the signing of two Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) on 6 April 2026.
One MOA establishes a coordinated framework for promoting a drug-free workplace among all MARINA 7 personnel, covering preventive education, policy implementation, and compliance monitoring. The second MOA supports the Cebu Seaport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (CEBU SIADITG), formalizing MARINA’s support for drug interdiction operations, monitoring, and enforcement to prevent the entry and transport of illegal drugs in Cebu seaports.
Following the signing, PDEA 7 conducted random drug testing among all MARINA 7 personnel, including regular employees, job order personnel, security guards, and utility staff, as part of efforts to strengthen workplace integrity.
“With this partnership, we aim to ensure a safe, trustworthy, and professional maritime environment,” said MARINA 7 Regional Director Engr. Ronaldo P. Bandalaria. “A drug-free workplace safeguards our personnel and reinforces public confidence in the services we provide.”
These initiatives underscore MARINA 7’s commitment to integrity, safety, and reliable public service in the maritime sector, while actively supporting efforts to prevent illegal drug activities in seaports.
