PASAY CITY – Amid tension in the Strait of Hormuz, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) highlighted the importance of strengthening maritime cooperation among government agencies and private maritime stakeholders to address crisis situation.

MARINA Overseas Shipping Service (OSS) Maritime Registry Division Chief Gerico John Vincent Magbojos emphasized the importance of collaboration among concerned entities in the overseas shipping sector, particularly in difficult times. “We meet at a time when our industry has been reminded, in very real terms, of how much is at stake on the high seas and how many people depend on the institutions in this room working together” Magbojos said.

On the other hand, MARINA OSS Cooperation and Strategic Maritime Initiatives Division Chief Judy Honrado mentioned that it takes foresight, trust, and discipline to act together even under uncertainty. “This is precisely the spirit that BEACON and PHILSHIPCON 2026 seek to nurture and sustain” Honrado said.
