MANILA, 26 APRIL 2020 – Seafarers who are included in the 1st batch of balik-probinsya activity undergo rapid antibody testing. This is conducted prior boarding the designated 2GO vessels even the concerned seafarers have completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine, in compliance with stringent safety protocols and in consideration of the well-being of the general public.
The Rapid Antibody Testing is continuously being administered by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as the lead agency, and also in coordination with Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).
The 1st batch of Balik-Probinsya comes to fulfillment after a series of discussions and meetings of the IATF Sub-Task Group on Repatriation of OFWs with the respective LGUs and local manning agencies of the seafarers. The Sub-Task Group is chaired by the DoTr and co-chaired by the OWWA and participated by the MARINA, PCG, BOQ and PPA.
The MARINA requests all stranded seafarers and those getting in touch with the MARINA Malasakit Help Desk to have more patience and bear with the situation as the concerned authorities are working together in a whole-of-government approach to find ways and implement the best practicable solutions to the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
