MANILA – The STCW Office of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has been granted the continuance of ISO 9001:2015 Certification, after the successful conduct of 1st Surveillance Audit by Bureau Veritas of its Quality Management System in its Central Office, as well as its satellite offices and regional offices in Metro Manila and other regions.

The Bureau Veritas has granted the continued certification of the STCW Office’s Quality Management System (QMS) after having successfully passed and consistently met the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

The MARINA, as the single maritime Administration when it comes to the implementation of the International Convention on the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers 1978, as amended, through its STCW Office, establishes the policies and procedures for its stakeholders – covering the provisions on training, certification and assessment system of Filipino seafarers to ensure that they are well educated, well trained and well equipped with knowledge and competencies aligned with national and international standards in order to develop them into a globally-competitive seafaring workforce.

Mr. Samuel L. Batalla, OIC Executive Director of the STCW Office, said that the MARINA takes pride in its ISO 9001:2015 QMS Certification.

“The ISO 9001:2015 QMS Certification represents a testament to the MARINA STCW Office’s commitment to ensure that the country gives full and complete effect to the requirements of the STCW Convention. Through its QMS, the Agency is able to continuously enhance its services, achieve its objectives of providing globally competitive seafarers and increase overall client satisfaction,” STCW OIC Executive Director Batalla stated.
