MANILA — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to integrate seafarer applications, such as MISMO and MARINA OAS, into the newly-launched e-Gov Super App. This strategic collaboration was unveiled during the kick-off ceremony of the National ICT Month at Malacañang on 02 June 2023.

In his message, President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr has expressed, “This is what we are pushing for. This is what e-governance is about, to bring it all together to make it simple and available, accessible.”

The e-Gov Super App serves as a comprehensive platform that consolidates various government applications from partner agencies, offering a convenient one-stop shop for the public. By incorporating MARINA’s seafarer applications, the DICT’s initiative underscores the significance of digitalization and aims to foster digital transformation across different sectors of the government.

This integration is part of the DICT’s ongoing efforts to promote digitization and automation within government systems. It marks the initial project/service availed by MARINA following the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between MARINA and the DICT on 25 April 2023.

The said endeavor is also aligned with the overarching objectives of the Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028, specifically the “Implementation of a Sustainable Maritime Innovation, Digitalization, Transformation, and Knowledge Center (SMIDTKC).” The program seeks to facilitate collaboration between MARINA and the DICT in implementing significant steps towards digitization and automation, ultimately enhancing the integration of government systems and applications.

Furthermore, the MOU empowers the Agency to automate and digitalize its processes, reduce paperwork, and enable real-time access to relevant information. It is anticipated that these measures will not only contribute to the Philippines’ digital transformation endeavors but also enhance its competitiveness in the maritime industry.

Meanwhile, MARINA Deputy Administrator for Planning Ms. Sonia B. Malaluan has represented the Agency during the DICT’s launch of e-gov Super App.
