The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and CMA CGM Philippines discussed the important matters in the Philippine maritime industry particularly in domestic shipping, maritime safety and marine environment protection.

MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan underscored the possible areas of collaboration that would contribute to the enhancement of ease of doing business, operational flexibility, as well as the improvement of the domestic shipping and maritime industry in general.

During the meeting at the MARINA Central Office, Port Area, Manila on 08 February 2024, the two parties also talked about the digitalization project of the MARINA that will streamline the process of necessary requirements on the operations of ships and MC DS-2023-02 on the implementation of RA 11659 entitled “An Act Amending Commonwealth Act No. 146, otherwise known as the Public Service Act, as amended.”

The MARINA and CMA CGM Philippines also briefly discussed the implementation of MARINA Circular No. SR-2020-06, particularly the provision of all Philippine registered ships plying in domestic trade compliance with the 0.50% m/m fuel oil Sulphur content limit by 01 January 2025. The MARINA has been reviewing the position of different shipping companies on the implementation of the said policy.
