In a significant move towards fostering sustainability and environmental stewardship in the maritime industry, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and Green Marine Copenhagen have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 11 April 2024 to advance mutual interests in the green transition of the maritime sector in the Philippines.
The MOU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration aimed at promoting sustainable practices, enhancing regulatory frameworks, and fostering the adoption of innovative technologies in maritime operations across the Philippines.
Under the agreement, MARINA and Green Marine Copenhagen will collaborate in several key areas including the shared objective of enhancing regulatory frameworks to promote environmental sustainability, safety, and efficiency in maritime operations; adopting innovative technologies and best practices in maritime operations; developing training programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills of maritime professionals; and identifying and advancing sustainable maritime solutions through research and development.
For her part, MARINA Administrator Ms. Sonia B. Malaluan underscored that the objectives of Green Marine Copenhagen align seamlessly with MARINA’s overarching goal of enhancing operational efficiency and fostering environmentally sustainable transportation opportunities.
