As the country awaits the receipt of the IMSAS Interim report from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the IMSAS Inter-agency Technical Working Group (TWG), pursuant to Executive Order No 84, convened its fourth meeting at the MARINA Board Room, Port Area, Manila on 28 May 2024.
Chaired by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Maritime, Atty. Julius A. Yano and with the assistance of the Officer-in-Charge of the Overseas Shipping Service (OSS), Ms. Precila C. Jara, the meeting was convened with the aim of finalizing the inputs on the Draft Form – B, a document that will be submitted to the IMO containing the root causes and corrective actions to be taken in addressing the findings during the IMSAS audit.
The meeting likewise discussed the initial comments of the TWG members on the revision of the Philippine Maritime Strategy for 2025-2029, which is the national work programme on IMSAS.
The IMSAS Inter-agency Technical Working Group Meeting was attended by representatives from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Cebu Port Authority (CPA), Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).
