CRIMARIO II Representative for Southeast Asia and IORIS Trainer, Mr. Alexandru Chiric, met with MARINA-Enforcement Service Director Engr. Ronaldo Bandalaria to explore areas of collaboration, particularly in training and the adoption of specific IORIS SOPs on 04 June 2024 in Manila.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the current status and future enhancements of the IORIS platform to ensure its effectiveness in monitoring and coordinating Philippine-registered vessels. They also focused on ways to strengthen the use of the platform and consolidate its application.
Mr. Chiric also conducted a one-day virtual refresher training course on 05 June 2024 for previously trained IORIS operators. The session was attended by 35 operators and observers from various MARINA Regional Offices and Central Service Units.
In line with this, the MARINA has committed to participating in virtual trainings and exercises alongside other agencies, such as the National Maritime Center, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, which has ended last 20 June 2024.
