STA. ANA, Cagayan – The MARINA Regional Office I and II (Marina I and II), led by Regional Director Engr. Jedini Nur A. Sibal, conducted the third leg of their Maritime Safety Awareness Culture Campaign Caravan on 18 February 2025.
Held in collaboration with maritime organizations and local authorities, the campaign featured a Modified Basic Safety Training (MBST) program designed to equip coastal communities with essential safety knowledge and skills. The initiative included awareness seminars, hands-on training, and the distribution of educational materials to merchants, fishermen, and recreational boaters, promoting safe maritime practices and reducing sea-related risks.
The MBST program has been tailored to meet evolving industry demands, incorporating advanced techniques and best practices to strengthen maritime safety standards.
As part of the initiative, Regional Director Sibal paid a courtesy visit to Sta. Ana Mayor Nelson Robinion to discuss maritime safety concerns and explore potential collaborations. Mayor Robinion, a strong advocate for local safety programs, expressed his support for the campaign, emphasizing its role in safeguarding coastal communities.
The Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Campaign Caravan will continue in the coming months across the region to further promote maritime safety culture.
