ISABELA CITY, BASILAN — The Marina Regional Office IX (MRO9), led by OIC-Director Farida T. Cunanan, PhD, concluded the third and final leg of its Maritime Safety Awareness Culture Campaign Caravan on 21 April 2025.
The event kicked off with a motorcade from the Isabela City port, joined by various stakeholders including shipping operators, local government units, and maritime partners. It culminated in a townhall meeting at the City Gymnasium, where key officials highlighted the city’s role as a strategic maritime hub and the importance of safety awareness.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MRO9 and the Local Government Unit of the Isabela City, affirming their joint commitment to maritime safety and compliance.
The campaign also featured the distribution of safety information materials aboard a docked passenger vessel, ensuring that seafarers and passengers are equipped with essential knowledge on maritime safety.
This final leg marks the successful completion of the caravan, following earlier stops in Dapitan and Zamboanga Cities.
