A new chapter begins as the Women in Maritime Philippines (WIMAPHIL) MARINA Sub-Chapter welcomes its newly elected officers.

Leading the sub-chapter is President Rubina S. Badoy, alongside Lurence V. Carace (Vice President), Katrina Marie G. Lapig (Secretary), Dana Justine DC Natividad (Treasurer), Josephine O. Castillo (Public Relations Officer), and Eden Z. Evangelista (Auditor).

The oath of office was solemnly administered by MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan, reaffirming the agency’s continued support for women empowerment in the maritime industry.

The WIMAPHIL MARINA Sub-Chapter is expected to implement projects aligned with the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s global strategy for women, such as improving women’s inclusion in the maritime sector at all levels and fields; increasing the visibility of women in leadership roles, both on board and ashore; promoting a diverse and inclusive maritime work culture free from harassment and discrimination; advocating for both ship- and shore-based career opportunities for women; fostering knowledge-sharing from IMO training opportunities; and enhancing capacity-building, collaboration, and gender-disaggregated data collection.

In support of this, the IMO has designated May 18 as the International Day for Women in Maritime, enjoining all Member States to celebrate and promote the role of women in the industry.

Congratulations to the new officers!
