CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — In an effort to enhance the regulation of commercial fishing operations in Northern Mindanao, the MARINA Regional Office 10 (MRO10) participated in a coordination meeting with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 10 at the BFAR Regional Office on 14 May 2025.

Engr. Louana C. Acosta, Head of the Domestic Shipping Service of MRO10, represented the agency during the meeting. The discussions focused on enhancing the enforcement of maritime and fisheries regulations, with particular emphasis on assisting owners of unregistered commercial fishing vessels in obtaining proper registration and licensing.

The joint initiative aims to ensure that all fishing vessels operating in the region comply with maritime safety and environmental standards, contributing to sustainable fisheries management and marine resource protection.
