QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) bagged the Silver Award, as the highest scorer, for Good Governance during the ARTA Recognition and Engagement Forum for the Philippine Good Regulatory Principles (PGRP) and Recognition and Awards Program (RAP) held on 29 May 2025.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for MARINA as the sole and first-time recipient of the Silver Award at the event—highlighting the agency’s unwavering dedication to public service and regulatory excellence.
“This recognition is a testament to MARINA’s continued commitment to promoting ease of doing business and to creating a fair and enabling environment for all stakeholders,” said Samuel L. Batalla, Executive Director of MARINA’s STCW Office, who accepted the award on behalf of Administrator Sonia Malaluan.
“We will continue to raise the bar of service excellence as we work toward a more efficient, inclusive, and globally competitive maritime industry for all Filipinos,” the Executive Director furthered.
ARTA Director General Secretary Ernesto V. Perez lauded MARINA as a model agency, setting a high standard for other government agencies to follow.
In addition, the MARINA MISMO System was recognized as part of the government’s digital transformation efforts under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s administration, as it aligns with the implementation of ARTA’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Act or Republic Act No. 11032 — aiming to streamline government services for public convenience.
