The Maritime Industry Authority – National Capital Region (MARINA-NCR), in partnership with the Department of Tourism – National Capital Region (DOT-NCR), held its 1st Convergence Forum on 22 September 2022, City of Manila.

The said forum, spearheaded by the agencies’ NCR-Regional Directors Engineer Marc Anthony Pascua of MARINA, and Ms. Sharlene Zabala-Batin of the DOT, was attended by key players in the domestic shipping industry.

During the conference, DOT resource speakers presented the Updates from the NCR, their Accreditation Processes, and their ongoing Innovation initiatives.

As for the MARINA, its officials have discussed the agency’s regulatory functions; and MIDP Programs 2 and 3 — the Development of Shipping Services for Tourism Destination and Program, and Development of Coastal and Inland Waterways Transport (CIWT) System, respectively.

Afterwards, stakeholders have actively participated in the open forum to convey their questions on accreditation, implementation of the MIDP, as well as other programs related to tourism, and maritime transportation. Such concerns were addressed by the MARINA, and DOT officials.

The said forum is in line with the National Maritime Week celebration, encompassing the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA MO).
