The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), through its Regional Office VI (RO6), recently hosted a Regional Directors’ Conference in Malay, Aklan on May 18-19, 2023. Chaired by MARINA Administrator Atty. Hernani N. Fabia, the conference gathered regional directors from across the Philippines to address significant matters in the maritime industry.

In his message, Administrator Fabia stressed the agency’s goal to be like a ‘symphony orchestra,’ operating in harmony, and in unity.

Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, MRO 6 Regional Director Jeffrey Bangsa, expressed that the MARINA has ‘weathered the storm, and we are growing stronger and thriving together under the excellent leadership of our Administrator.’

During the conference, French maritime expert, Mr. Emeric Faure, shared recommendations, plans, and programs aimed at enhancing the industry in all regions of the country. The regional directors engaged in discussions to explore opportunities for the possible implementation of such strategies.

One of the focal points of the conference was the updated Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028, which outlines comprehensive plans and programs for the industry’s growth and development. The conference also provided updates on the Organizational Structure and Staffing Pattern (OSSP), offering insights into optimizing human resources and promoting efficient employment practices within the industry.
