In a concerted effort to bolster maritime safety and security in line with the Maritime Industry Development Plan 2028 (MIDP 2028), the European Union Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean (EU CRIMARIO), under the leadership of Mr. Kenneth Niejnes, conducts training for personnel from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the National Coast Watch Center (NCWC) from 18-22 September 2022 at the B-Hotel, Quezon City. This training, focused on the effective utilization of the Indian Ocean Regional Information Sharing (IORIS).

The primary objective of this comprehensive training is to equip MARINA and NCWC personnel with the necessary skills to become proficient trainers and operators of the IORIS Platform, facilitating seamless information sharing within and between agencies.

During the Opening Ceremony, Director Engr. Ronaldo P. Bandalaria of the Enforcement Service welcomed the participants and underscored the significance of the five-day Foundation Course. He also emphasized that the trained participants will be at the forefront of implementing the project across various service units and Regional Offices.

Notably, on September 7, 2023, critical agreements were signed between MARINA, NCWC, and EU CRIMARIO, marking a pivotal step towards ensuring the safety and security of maritime industries in the archipelago, ushering in a new era of prosperity and security.
