Mariveles, Bataan — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) through its National Capital Region Office (NCR) conducted a Modified Basic Safety Training (MBST) from 21 to 24 January 2025 in Sisiman, Mariveles, Bataan, aimed at raising awareness about maritime safety and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations within the community.

The four-day event, led by MARINA-NCR Regional Director Engr. Marc Anthony P. Pascua, featured participants from the Bataan Maritime Police Station and other industry stakeholders. The training focused on equipping seafarers serving onboard Philippine-registered vessels between 3GT and 35GT with essential safety knowledge and skills.

The MBST program covered the Basic Safety Training Modules, including Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting; Elementary First Aid; Personal Safety and Social Responsibility; Personal Survival Techniques; and Typhoon Awareness and Preparedness.

These modules were designed to enhance the participants’ proficiency in responding to emergencies and maintaining high safety standards in maritime operations.

In addition to the training, the initiative included a mobile registration service, providing easier access to MARINA’s services for the Mariveles community.
