The Korea Offshore and Shipbuilding Engineering Cooperative (KOSEC), the Busan Marine Engineering Association (BUEA), and the Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding (RIMSS) have expressed keen interest in collaborating with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to enhance the Philippine maritime sector. Their focus includes advancing shipbuilding production technology and establishing training centers to develop a competent workforce in shipbuilding and repair.

On January 27, 2025, MARINA Regional Office VI, led by Regional Director Jeffrey A. Bangsa, welcomed Mr. Hyoungkyu Park, Ambassador of the Korean organizations, to discuss these initiatives. Mr. Park highlighted their intention to immerse in the current state of the Philippine maritime industry while coordinating with the MARINA Administrator on potential projects.

Director Bangsa expressed unwavering support for the proposed collaborations, underscoring MARINA’s commitment to fostering innovative partnerships that will uplift the maritime sector.
