The MARINA Regional Office XII (Marina Gensan), led by Regional Director Engr. Bernardo A. Pollo successfully concluded the 4th leg of its Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Campaign Caravan held at the Poblacion Covered Court in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat on 18 February 2025.

The event gathered key maritime stakeholders, including local government units (LGUs) from Kalamansig and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), coastal fishing associations, coastal barangay officials, boat operators, and other maritime entities. The caravan’s primary objective was to raise awareness of maritime safety and environmental responsibility, with a focus on ensuring a safer and cleaner maritime environment for all.

In his address, RD Pollo expressed his sincere gratitude to the attendees, commending their continued efforts and commitment to promoting maritime safety. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving safer seas and a sustainable maritime environment.

Through their representatives, the mayors of Kalamansig and Lebak also extended their thanks to MARINA for initiating the campaign. They expressed their excitement for this partnership and its positive impact, marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration between MARINA and the local government units.

A significant moment during the event was the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kalamansig and MARINA. This MOU solidifies their commitment to working together to promote maritime safety and environmental protection in the region.

The 5th and final leg of the Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Caravan is tentatively scheduled for 05 March 2025, in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
