The MARINA Regional Office IV (MRO4), led by Engr. Rizal J. Victoria, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Infanta, Quezon, under Hon. Filipina Grace R. America, successfully held the 5th Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Campaign at the Brgy. Dinahican Covered Court on 3 April 2025.
Themed “Ligtas Byaheng Dagat” (Safe Sea Travel), the event emphasized the importance of maritime safety and the collective responsibility of stakeholders. Barangay Captain Hon. Janet G. Balili expressed gratitude to boat owners, operators, and stakeholders, highlighting the shared duty of ensuring public safety.
Key messages of support were delivered by representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Municipal Tourism Office. In her keynote address, Hon. Filipina Grace America commended MARINA for leading the campaign and reaffirmed the LGU’s support for future maritime safety initiatives. A Maritime Safety Culture Awareness audio-visual presentation educated participants on essential safety protocols and responsible sea travel practices.
The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MRO4 and the LGU of Infanta, marking their commitment to strengthening local maritime safety standards. Engr. Victoria closed the event by thanking the 261 attendees for their participation, urging continued collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and local communities to promote safe and responsible sea travel.
