PLARIDEL, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — The MARINA Region X (MRO10), in partnership with the local government of Plaridel, successfully concluded the final leg of its Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Campaign Caravan held at the Plaridel Port Passenger Terminal.
The campaign aimed to promote maritime safety, highlight the rights of Persons with Disabilities in sea travel, and encourage collaboration among agencies and communities.
The event kicked off with a motorcade and was followed by a town hall meeting joined by key maritime stakeholders, including the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, and private sector partners.
During the activity, MRO10 OIC-Regional Director Juliet S. Nacion emphasized that safety at sea is a shared responsibility, while Plaridel Mayor Gadwin E. Handumon reaffirmed the town’s support for maritime safety efforts.
The event featured messages of support from partner agencies, an audio-visual presentation on safety culture, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MRO10 and the LGU of Plaridel.
More than 100 participants attended the final caravan, which capped a series of regional campaigns promoting responsible and secure maritime transport.
