MANILA – The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has successfully concluded the 2nd Independent Evaluation of the Philippine Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID), reaffirming the agency’s compliance with international standards and commitment to operational excellence on 16 May 2025.
The evaluation, led by Dr. John William M. Campbell of the International Labour Organization (ILO), was capped by a closing ceremony at the MARINA Central Office. Dr. Campbell commended MARINA’s performance, noting that “everything is on track and successful,” and described the SID issuance process as a “very good system” that has operated reliably in recent years.
MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan welcomed the positive assessment and underscored the agency’s commitment to continuous improvement. “We are dedicated to enhancing our systems further to ensure that our SID remains secure, efficient, and globally recognized,” she said.
The evaluation covered MARINA’s Central Office and Regional Offices VI and VII, highlighting the agency’s nationwide adherence to security and efficiency protocols. The initiative supports MARINA’s broader mission to safeguard the identity and credibility of Filipino seafarers in the global maritime sector.
