MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Rey Leonardo Guerrero welcomed the 11 new Master Mariners hurdled the Harbor Pilot Licensure Examinations conducted on 12-14 September 2018, during their oath-taking ceremony recently.

Those who passed the examinations included the following:

  1. Camelo B. Besario
  2. Conrado B. Ruiz, Jr.
  3. James Roland B. Icao
  4. Jonathan C. Abraham
  5. Owen A. Ardiente
  6. Roberto B. Fernandez
  7. Romel T. Alcantara
  8. Reynaldo P. Fernandez
  9. Edwin O. Acosta
  10. David G. Timario
  11. Richard Glenn V. Tomarong

Administrator Guerrero exhorted these new Harbor Pilots to live up to the expectations of their noble profession, as they play a significant role in the promotion of safety of life and property at sea, as well as in the protection of coastal marine environment.

The MARINA also encouraged them to be competitive and reliable forces in ensuring maritime safety in all Philippine ports, as they will be included in the roster of 126 currently active licensed Harbor Pilots in over 25 districts across the country.

Furthermore, the MARINA sought for the support and participation of the 11 Harbor Pilot Licensure Exam passers in MARINA’s current discourse in accelerating the growth of the pilotage industry.
