MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Officer-in-Charge Vice-Admiral Narciso Vingson Jr. encouraged MARINA employees to practice the “oath of public service” and live up the standards of a model public servant in the weekly flag ceremony today, 12 November 2018.

Vice-Admiral Vingson emphasized that the pledge recited during flag ceremonies of government agencies is easier said than done. Nevertheless, it is of utmost importance for MARINA employees to take it to their hearts and apply it in the performance of their work duties.

Vice-Admiral Vingson also encouraged MARINA employees to not just be model public servants but also model Filipino citizens.

In his talk before MARINA officials and employees, he made use of Alexander Lacson’s “12 Little Things We Can Do To Help Our Country.” These are following traffic rules and law, always asking for an official receipt, avoid buying smuggled goods, speaking positively about us and our country, respecting traffic officers, policemen, and other public servants, throwing garbage properly, supporting the church, voting during elections, paying employees well, responsibly paying taxes, adopting a scholar or a poor child, and acting as a good parent.
