The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) headed by Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan hosted the 142nd TSSC chaired by the Office of the Transport Security (OTS) at the MARINA Board Room on 13 February 2024.

During her opening remarks, Administrator Malaluan emphasized the importance of strong alliance and connectivity among various agencies having consistent and common goals – providing secure, safe and convenient means of transport whether by seas, roads, rail or air to the riding public. The intelligence network and information sharing is a great factor towards a better public service for the betterment of the nation- “Para sa Pilipino ang Bagong Pilipinas”. It was also stressed that MARINA supports the collaboration and partnership efforts among agency partners which is included in her 10-Point Maritime Agenda through “Charting a Clean Course Safety Sailing Together”.

Among the security issues arising from the maritime sector, the 142nd TSCC was highlighted on the briefing of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on the plight of the Overseas Filipino Workers in conflict zones and the critical role of transportation in securing the well-being of the OFWs. The DMW was the newest and 41st member of the TSCC.

Present during the conference were the security officials of the Philippine Navy, Anti-Terrorism Council – Program Management Center, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Fire Protection, Civil Aeronautics Soard, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) DTI-Strategic Trade Management Office- (STMO), LRTA/LRT2, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Land Transportation Office, Manila International Airport, Metro Manila Development Authority, Metro Rail Transit Line 3, National Bureau of Investigation, Office of the Transport Security, Philippine Bomb Data Center, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, PNP AVSE Group, PNP- EOD,PNP Highway Patrol Group, PNP Intelligence Group, PNP Maritime Group, PNP NCRPO, Philippine National Railways, Philippine Ports Authority and the Department of Transportation.

Together with Administrator Malaluan, other MARINA Officials actively participated in the conference including the Deputy Administrator for Operations, Engr. Nannette Dinopol, Shipyard and Regulations Director and Chief of Staff, Engr. Ramon Hernandez and Enforcement Director, Engr. Ronaldo P. Bandalaria.

In closing, Dir. Eugenio B. Paguirigan, TSRMS, OTS / Vice Chair TSCC, in behalf of ASEC Jose Briones expressed his gratefulness to MARINA for generously hosting the said meeting.
