MARINA Administrator addresses the inaugural Launching of IMP Shipyard and Port Services, Incorporated today, 23 February 2023 and commends its President and Chairman, Capt Gaudencio C Morales for establishing a full-service shipbuildijg and ship repair facility that specializes in new construction, retrofiting, repair, conversion and modification of commercial merchant ships and fishing vessels.

IMP Shipyard will provide fabrication services such as marine electronics repair, industrial fabrication, pier side, underwater, propellers, tail shafts, and rudder repairs and hull plating.
It boasts of an in-house multi-disciplined Engineering Team to ensure cost-effective solutions to the Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (SBSR) challenges and is committed to producing modern high quality vessel designs at competitive costs.

Strategically located along thr coastal community of Brgy Balugo Uno in the Municipality of Albuera, Leyte, IMP Shipyard expected to generate around 300 jobs where 60% will come from the locality.

This initiative, supported by the MARINA, the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, the Board of Investments, the Local Governments of Albuera town and the Province of Leyte, aligns with the realization of the goals and objectives of the the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the Maritime Industry Development Plan 2028. Various private sector associations are also attending the inauguration ceremony such as the Association of Licensed Manning Agencies- Maritime Group, Filipino Association of Mariners’ Employment, Movement for Maritime Philippines, Integrated Seafarers Philippines, National Integration Center for OFWS, PACIFI, Metro Ferry Inc. GMCG, among others.

Joining the Administrator are Engr Ramon C Hernandez, Chief of Staff and Director II, Shipyard Regulation Service, Mr Luisito U delos Santos, Director II, Planning and Policy Service and Atty Eusebia Cadlum- Boco, MARINA Regional Director in Region 8, Eastern Visayas Region.
