Pursuant to BSP Memorandum No. M-2016-019, please be informed that the Professional Identification Card (ID card) issued by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) is considered as a photo-bearing ID document issued by an official authority. This is comparable in quality with those issued by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Social Security System (SSS), and Land Transportation Office (LTO), and eligible to facilitate financial transactions for the holders of MARINA issued ID card.
The MARINA Professional License ID also qualifies as Republic Act (RA) 1080 eligibility, equivalent to a Career Service Eligibility.
In case any commercial bank refuses to recognize MARINA Professional License ID as a photo bearing identification card, you may refer them to the cited BSP Memorandum. Alternatively, you may inform us through e-mail at [email protected] or the BSP of the name of the bank.
